We are actually getting around pretty well, but we do seem to lose our way or take the wrong turn or miss a turn at least once a day. We have found a Costco that is close to our apartment, and have been there a couple of times taking the freeway. We have had need of printing services at an OfficeMax quite a bit lately, and have found a back roads route there that is easier than the freeway. So we were getting some printing done today, and they needed an hour to finish it, so we drove across the street to a shopping center. There was a Trader Joes, etc. and we shopped and looked around, killing time. We were walking down the storefronts, and saw what looked like a Costco. We said, "Oh, there's another Costco!". We then realized it was our Costco, from a different direction! We were completely turned around, and once again, lost in San Jose! Oh my...
We've had a busy week, with lots of meetings. We were able to catch one person home for a visit (it's very hard to catch people), got lost trying to find her apartment (big surprise), but had a wonderful visit. She is a single member whose family lives in SLC, has an advanced degree in something - audiology? - and works with hearing impaired people; very bright and sweet. We enjoyed getting to know her.
For Mother's Day, we went to church/meetings, and instead of coming home and having the super dinner Dad had put in the crockpot for us, we went to that lovely "Italian Villa" again for dinner. The crockpot roast and potatoes was just as good tonight! The couple who have all those people to dinner at their home twice a month invited us to go to San Francisco with them in a couple of weeks to a classical piano concert. Such nice folks!
Dad and I are enjoying the treats everyone sent for Mother's Day. Such fun getting mail!! We got a package Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I love my new slippers, jewelry, "felted" bowl, smoothie tumblers, drink mixes, spice mixes, and cards and letters! I felt very loved.
We would really like to hear from some grandkids. Ask them to get on the blog or email us or something, will ya?
So here goes with trying to put some pictures in. We have 3 families of geese that roam the apartment complex. We thought there were only 2, but saw a third today.
Top, the Gandolph family (we're naming them!), bottom, my MD gifts!
So there you go. One more post ready for comments!
Love you all
I love hearing your stories! Is it bad that I think it's funny that you get lost? Teehee. :) I'm glad you liked your care packages. I will make sure the kids send you an email soon. Don't hold your breath though because most of the time I can barely get them to talk to me.
ReplyDeleteI thought you would like to know that Alex seems to be improving a little bit. It's slow, but I see signs of the old Alex returning. I am hesitant to even say that because I think for sure that I will jinx it or he will slip backward again. But it has been a week that he has seemed ok, so I am hopeful that this medication might be helping him. He told his doctor that he thought it was the only one so far that has done anything for him. I thought that was a good sign that even he recognizes a change.
Anyway, I thought I would bring you up to date on him as I know you all have been very worried.
Great stories! I think getting just a little lost once in a while is just fine and good for you. Glad to hear Alex is doing better.
ReplyDeleteIt's snowing here. That is all. (I tried to post a picture here but I don't know how to do that in the comments. It's on my Google+ page if you're interested).
So glad Alex is doing better. "The old Alex returning" is music to our ears. Tracy, I detect a note of despondency regarding the snow! It will quit! Spring will come!
ReplyDeleteSure wish we would hear from Amy. Maybe she can't get internet service in that part of the world. Maybe they are so busy during the day, they just want to crash at night. Maybe she's not seeing anything worth posting about (hehe). We just hope they are okay and safe, huh? I'm sure we'll hear all about it when they get back.
It's hot here! Not saying that to brag, but we're glad we are indoors most of the day. Or in the car, which has a good air conditioner. We only got lost a little today, and not once yesterday. Maybe there's hope!
Rob's been posting on Facebook every day, so I think they are fine. I'm sure she'll do a big post for us when they get back.
DeleteSnow in May! Ewwww! I saw the pictures you posted on google+. That's just nuts. And to think I was feeling sorry for myself the other day because it wasn't in the 70's like it usually is by now.
ReplyDeleteWell, a half hour later it cleared up and was sunny the rest of the day, and the wind didn't even pick up like it usually does. What's really bad is when it snows in June and then you get tree branches breaking all over the place. The nice thing is our summers are usually perfect and we have good weather until October.
DeleteThe geese babies are so cute! Glad you liked your mother's day gift.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone gets lost in a new place so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Sounds like you are getting a little used to it.
Not much new here. Our pool is open now! So we are pretty excited. Although weather in the 70's still too cold for me to swim but the kids love it and don't care! Today was beautiful though and we went for a nice ride on Dave's bike.
I will be sure to tell the kids to get on and comment, but like Meg said I can barely get them to talk to me, either! Love you all
Is it Geese babies or Goose babies, lol?!
ReplyDeleteI am trying to figure out how to send the blog to Shalee since she has google but I can't figure it out. Help?
ReplyDeleteNevermind :)
ReplyDeleteYay! Shalee's here! :)
DeleteMy phone didn't tell me there were new comments so I could respond. So Shalee, let's hear how you're doing!
